The scottish legal services ombudsman was a non departmental public body in scotland appointed by the scottish ministers responsible for overseeing the internal complaints procedures of the faculty of advocates and the law society of scotland but with considerable constraints on their investigatory remit it was replaced by the scottish legal complaints commission in 2008. There are currently no known outstanding effects for the scottish legal services ombudsman and commissioner for local administration in scotland act 1997 changes to legislation revised legislation carried on this site may not be fully up to date. The scottish legal complaints commission slcc has commented on the outcome of a judicial review in the court of session slcc launches strategy budget and operating plan consultation the slcc has opened a consultation on its budget and operating plan for 2020 21 as well as its strategy for 2020 24. 1 this act may be cited as the scottish legal services ombudsman and commissioner for local administration in scotland act 1997 2 subject to subsection 3 below sections 1 to 10 of this act shall come into force at the end of that period of two months which begins with the day on which the act is passed
